Powers of Attorney
We can advise on general powers of attorney and the new lasting powers of attorney (LPA) - enabling those of sound mind to appoint a person or persons to manage their health and welfare and/or their property or financial affairs should they become physically or mentally incapable of doing so. We can also advise on existing enduring powers of attorney (EPA).
Living Wills/Advance Directives
We can advise and prepare a living will for you - it is a written document setting out the circumstances in which you would not wish to receive life-prolonging treatment in the event that you become mentally incapable of making such decisions. Although not legally binding these written, dated, signed and witnessed statements are very persuasive with relatives and medical staff and give a clear indication of your intention and wishes.
Deputy of the Court of Protection
We can assist with an application for appointment as Deputy of the Court of Protection to manage the financial and/or welfare affairs of a person who is incapable but has not made a lasting power of attorney. We can also assist with existing receivership orders.
