Held on August Bank Holiday Sunday in the beautiful town of Beaminster to raise funds for the church and community activities.
Hosted by Martin Clunes and his wife Philippa in aid of Julia’s House Children’s charity, the fair is held at Buckham Down near Beaminster in August. We are the main sponsor of this annual event, which raises thousands of pounds for charity. We are also joint sponsors of the Rescue Dog Championship, which involves a number of contests around the area, culminating in the championship at Buckham Fair.
It’s 24 years since Henry Smith from Bettiscombe was one of the first people in the UK to undergo a heart and double kidney transplant. After the procedure, he started organising charity dinner dances in aid of medical charities associated with his condition. Over the years he has raised nearly £100,000.
2015 is the 20th year of the Beaminster Festival, a week-long celebration of music and the arts, which attracts visitors from all over the country. The festival has grown from small beginnings to be at the forefront of West Country music and arts events.
A brand new food festival celebrating the best of South West food and drink and raising money for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.
The historic Melplash Show is a major fixture in the West Dorset calendar. This traditional, one-day agricultural show attracts thousands of exhibitors and visitors every August.
A countryside family show celebrating Dorset with horse competitions, dog competitions, shopping, clay pigeon shooting, falconry, arts and crafts and local food and drink. Held in August at Rampisham Down.
Bricky is one of the UK’s last remaining “home produced” eventing competitions. It relies heavily on a small band of volunteers and local supporters and is held every September. Kitson & Trotman was one of the original sponsors and with our strong links to equestrianism, we are delighted to support this event.
Eat Dorset brings together the very best produce and producers from across Dorset and the surrounding counties. It’s usually held at historic Parnham House near Beaminster in October (no event in 2015).
The Bridport Literary Festival is held in November and brings and eclectic mix of speakers to the town for this weeklong event.
In addition to a full diary of events, we also sponsor Beaminster Ladies Hockey Club, the Kitson & Trotman Friendly League hockey and support Broadwindsor Cricket Club.
Beaminster Ladies Hockey Club play home games and train at Sir John Colfox School in Bridport, attracting people from Bridport, Lyme Regis, Beaminster, Dorchester and villages in between and beyond.
